Waste Identification

Short Article about Waste Identification by Graham Ross of Lean KaizenWhat I'd like you to do is think a bit differently about your area of business for a
moment.

What I'm about to say may seem a bit strange.

What I'd like you to do is just for a short time forget that you are a human being.

I told you it was going to be strange.....

Instead, imagine that you are the product or service that you provide your customers with.

You may be an application form of some type.

You may be the cure to a disease inside someone's body waiting to be recommended and administered.

You may be the process of providing a client with their last will and testament.

If you can get your head around becoming your product or service think about what happens to your from
beginning to end.

Where does your journey start?

Who do you visit along the way?

What happens to you at each stage?

How far do you have to travel?

Are you ever just left waiting for something to happen to you?

Do you have any faults that have to be put right?
How many places do you have to visit and why?
When does you travel finish and where ?

Yes, I would actually encourage you to take that product journey and walk through your current process from
beginning to end, and identify all the wasted time along the way.

And then do something about it!

Summary

Walking though your process from beginning to end, looking for waste, can be a real eye opener.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Graham Ross
