Examples of 2P Process Preparation Mock Ups
Example
This is an example of a cardboard mock up of a piece of equipment.
It simulates the size and shape of equipment and can be very useful for all sorts of things including: training, set up reduction, creating standard operating procedures etc.
It allows you to create the environment so that you can experiment off line.
This example is of a piece of equipment for a dark room (plastic bags used for walls) that required the operator to use night vision goggles ! It allowed us to simulate the dark and
optimise the position for controls and materials etc.It was fabricated from re-cycled cardboard .On one occasion we built a complete process (Ten machines) out of similar materials . It had the nickname "cardboard city." Doing this can tell you a lot before you invest in expensive equipment and storage containers etc.
Example

This is an example of a product created as a mock up from cardboard:
The model was actually made 3X the real size to make it easier to construct and interact with.
Example

This is an example of a layout created from cardboard and everyday objects:
The layout was created as a U shaped cell to help with one piece flow.
Example

This is an example of preparation for a 2P, Process Preparation Event:
A successful 2P Process Preparation event needs the correct physical resources to be in place before you start. Always collect spare cardboard ahead of time if you plan to run one of these events!
Hope this helps.
